The ABM's breastfeeding helpline telephone number is open every day from 9.30am to 10.30pm. All our telephone breastfeeding counsellors are volunteers who have breastfed their own children and have also received in depth training on all aspects of breastfeeding

There are always breastfeeding counsellors available on this Line. NCT breastfeeding counsellors are all mothers who have breastfed and have been trained by the NCT. They have learned to listen carefully, understanding your point of view. They won't tell you what to do.
In most breastfeeding situations, they can give research-based information. They can talk through with you what's important for you.

They will listen to your questions and offer practical suggestions and warm support. They have the most up-to-date breastfeeding information available and can pass on the wealth of experience of other breastfeeding mothers, to help you solve the problems and make the decisions that are right for you and your baby.

The system will automatically connect you to your local Breastfeeding Supporter by recognizing the area you are calling from anywhere in the UK. The service operates from 9.30am to 9.30pm every day of the year, and calls will be charged at the usual national rate in the UK*. Our system also accepts calls from mobile telephones (call charges from mobile telephones vary).
If no-one can take your call, a message will tell you so. If the first Supporter is unable to take your call, you will be automatically transferred to a second Supporter (this may take a little longer to connect). Please remember your Supporter is a mum too and may have other commitments. She will try her best to answer your call as soon as she can.
Breastfeeding Network Supporters are volunteers who have done extensive training, and are also mothers who have breastfed their babies. They are able to provide a unique service that is complementary to that of health visitors, midwives and other health professionals. Breastfeeding Supporters are available at the end of the phone to give information and support to mothers who have challenges with breastfeeding, and will visit new mothers at home where possible.
You may prefer to drop-in to a BfN Support Centre near you. To find out if there is a centre in your area ring your local supporter on 0870 900 8787
